Every year 1.5 million
children die from complications
related to a lack of clean water supply
You can help change this reality
Clean water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene should be normal for everyone everywhere. But it isn’t.
Millions do not have access to clean, safe water simply because of where they live or how much money they have. And the poorest in the world pay more for all life essentials like water, in time and money.
Clean water lays the foundation for a better life in poor communities everywhere. Access to clean water frees people from waterborne illnesses that inhibit work, costs communities in health clinic fees, and prevents children from attending school. It is essential to step out of poverty. Clean water, however, is not maintainable without water access, sanitation, and hygiene practices (WASH) that keep water safe.
Children are most impacted by water poverty
- globally, water-borne illness kills 6,000 children a day
Children under five are
- the first to get sick and die from waterborne and sanitation-related illnesses including diarrhea
- 20 times more likely to die from illnesses linked to unsafe water and bad sanitation, than from climate emergencies or human conflicts
Women and girls
- are at risk of sexual assault when walking long distances to retrieve water
- forfeit education because of household requirements
We believe access to affordable, clean, safe water is a fundamental human right.
The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries — poor, rich, and middle-income — to promote prosperity while protecting the planet.
Give Water4Life’s mission is to help achieve Global Goal 6 — clean water and sanitation for all.
Together, we can change the story for families around the world.
You can ensure safe and affordable access to drinking water and sanitation for all.
